A rare Chalkous from Sardes
Lot 577
LYDIA. Sardes. 4th century BC. Chalkous (Bronze, 12 mm, 1.95 g, 12 h). Head of Dionysios to left, wearing ivy wreath. Rev. 𐤱-𐤮 Kantharos. Vögtli, Pergamon 524. Rare and interesting. Good very fine.

This issue has been attributed to Naxos and Syros in the past, but the new reading as S-F in Lydian letters points towards a Lydian mint, most likely Sardes, known in Lydian as 'Sfard'.
